The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Reportedly Being Pushed Back to 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic hasn't been taking it easy on the entertainment news industry. Not only has the novel coronavirus forced cinemas to close down for months on end, subsequently delaying the release of blockbuster movies like Mulan, Black Widow, and Wonder Woman 1984, but it's also forced studios to shut down film and television productions throughout the world.

That includes The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, one of Marvel's highly-anticipated Disney+ releases. Though Marvel may have been able to complete a majority of the film's principle photography, the production found itself caught in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As much as fans were hoping to see The Falcon and the Winter Soldier by the end of this year, there are reports saying that Marvel fans may have to wait a little bit longer to see Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) officially take on Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) mantle as Marvel's Captain America.

According to a report by Comic Book Movie, word on the rumor mill has it that Marvel Studios is planning to delay The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's release to 2021. Not only is the studio planning to delay the series because of COVID-19, but the entertainment news outlet says that Disney is hoping to take advantage of the lack of content on other streaming services next year by blasting its upcoming Marvel offers.

While this may sound like a major disappointment to Marvel fans, WandaVision is close to completing production, so the series may very well end up releasing sometime this December.
