The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Almost Featured The Punisher's Ben Barnes

There is little doubt that the cast of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has been truly impressive. However, it looked like the series almost featured someone from the Netflix Marvel shows. Former The Punisher star Ben Barnes has just revealed that he was supposed to show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe show.

Barnes had previously played the villainous Billy Russo aka Jigsaw in two seasons of The Punisher. However, it looks like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier director Kari Skogland had wanted to cast Barnes in the series for an undisclosed role.

"She actually messaged me saying she was doing The Winter Soldier and that there might be a character for me in it," Barnes shared. However, it wasn't possible since he had already signed on for a different project.

"I was just about to do Shadow and Bone, so I didn't even know what it might be," Barnes said.

It's intriguing to know that Skogland had wanted Barnes to play a character in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. But which character could it be? There's a possibility that Barnes may have been considered for John Walker or one of the key Flag-Smashers. Some even believe that Billy Russo could have made an appearance in the series, bridging the Netflix shows with the MCU.

For now, Skogland might be the only one who knows which role she had wanted Barnes to play. In the meantime, fans can expect to see him in action as the Darkling in Shadow and Bone, which premieres on Netflix on April 23. The final episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will also air on Disney+ on the same day.
