The show’s next opening theme was announced previously, but the new ending continued to be a mystery, until now that is. That’s because The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 revealed that its voice cast members will perform the new ending theme.
Details about the show’s new ending song were shared on the official The Eminence in Shadow X (formerly Twitter) account and website. A new visual for the ending song was shared alongside the announcement.
The Eminence in Shadow Once Again Taps Cast Members for Next Ending
The Eminence in Shadow Season 1 aired from Fall 22 until Winter 23. It may have been overshadowed by some other Fall 22 titles, but it hit its stride in its latter half. Soon, it proved successful enough to be renewed quickly.
Shortly after the first season’s finale, the show got a second season announcement. The best part is that fans don’t have to wait long as it is set to premiere in Fall 23.
More info about Season 2 soon emerged, including the fact that the music group OxT will return for the next season's opening. Meanwhile, no info was revealed about the ending previously.
The anime’s first ending theme was not performed by a popular Japanese band or artist. Instead, the main voice cast members performed the ending. These include Asami Seto, Inori Minase, and more.
Voice cast members being theme song singers has long been a trend. After all, projects such as Dead Mount Death Play and The Quintessential Quintuplets anime special featured theme songs by their VAs.

Four More Shadow Garden Members Perform Season 2 Ending
Much like the first season, The Eminence in Shadow’s return will also feature an ending theme by voice cast members. Instead of consisting of the same VAs though, the new song features a different voice cast roster.
Specifically, the new song is titled Polaris in the Night and it is performed by Shadow Garden Numbers. This group features the following VAs:
- Ikumi Hasegawa (Kita in Bocchi the Rock!) – Lambda
- Maaya Uchida (Angel Devil in Chainsaw Man) – Nu
- Mayu Minami (Parviz in Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE) – Chi
- Ryoko Maekawa (Hanabi in Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki) – Omega
The characters that these VAs play are all members of Shadow Garden. They were chosen to sing the ending theme likely because their characters will play bigger roles in Season 2.
The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 will premiere on October 4, 2023. Much like the first season, new episodes will be released on HIDIVE in the US.
