Great news for those who missed this rom-com anime! HIDIVE recently announced that The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist will get an English dub, and it will be released later this month.
Along with the anime’s release date, HIDIVE also revealed the anime’s English voice cast, which consists of many experienced VAs.
The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist Announces English Dub Cast
The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist is an anime by Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ, the studios behind titles like World’s End Harem and Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon.
Unlike most rom-com anime which are based on manga, this show is based on a light novel series. The anime aired during the Summer 23 season, and it starred several big-name Japanese VAs in its original dub.
These include actresses like Yumiri Hanamori (Ai Hayasaka in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War), Mikako Komatsu (Maki Zenin in Jujutsu Kaisen), and Kaori Ishihara (Tiese Shtolienen in Sword Art Online: Alicization).
For the English dub, HIDIVE tapped a cast featuring some notable English dub VAs, including:
- Gabriel Regojo (Kazuhito Narita in Haikyuu!!) as Wataru
- Alyssa Marek (Ruby Hoshino in Oshi no Ko) as Aika
- Chaney Moore (Ranko Mannen in Akiba Maid War) as Kei
- Kalin Coates (Kiyui in Made in Abyss) as Airi
- Bobby Haworth (Hikaru Setouchi in Phantom of the Idol) as Arimara
- Kira Vincent-Davis (Shinobu Wakamiya in Chihayafuru) as Ayano Mita
- Kimberly Yates (Minnie May Hopkins in Gunsmith Cats) as Claudine
- Katelyn Barr (Sabina Fardin in Gundam: The Witch from Mercury) as Fuka

HIDIVE to Stream The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist in English Dub
This series follows Wataru Sajou who is hopelessly in love with his beautiful classmate, Aika Natsukawa. Wataru often asks Aika to go out with him to no avail.
One day, Wataru gets hit with a soccer ball, and this knocks him to his senses. Thus, he distances himself from Aika as he concludes that his feelings are one-sided.
Because of this, Aika thinks Wataru has come to dislike her. Soon, Aika becomes the one who approaches Wataru.
HIDIVE confirmed that this rom-com anime’s English dub will premiere in the US on November 24 at 11:00 AM Eastern / 8:00 AM Pacific.
