The Deadpool 2 Cast Didn't Know About Ryan Reynolds' Secret Role

Deadpool 2 featured a number of nice surprises, one of which was the appearance of classic X-Men villain Juggernaut. Often switching allegiances, the character served a decent enough purpose in the sequel and many fans appreciated seeing him as a huge monstrosity. Many were surprised to know that Reynolds, Deadpool himself, actually provided the character's voice.

Turns out it wasn't just the audience that was surprised since the cast didn't know Reynolds would portray the character either.

Stefan Kapicic, who plays Colossus in the movie, told The Hollywood Reporter that he found out about Reynolds playing the Juggernaut as they were about to have their CGI fight. When they were going to do some motion capture for the characters, Kapicic was surprised to see the lead star putting on an outfit as well.

"I didn't know who was going to be doing the voice of Juggernaut. Ryan is always there when I'm working on Colossus, helping me with the lines and giving me ideas. Then I saw Ryan getting into the CGI costume, and I'm like, 'What's going on, man? Did I miss something?'"

If this was their way of keeping the character a secret, they did a pretty good job. No one knew that Juggernaut would appear in the movie until they saw it, though there was speculation about him. Colossus does seemingly punch his helmet in a trailer and the character's song was leaked a bit early. Still, actually seeing him as a complete CGI character was neat.

Deadpool 2 is now available as a digital download, along with the film's Super Duper Cut.
