The series may have started off a bit quietly, but now, the romance anime The Dangers in My Heart is confirmed to be one of the biggest hits of Spring 23.
Specifically, it was revealed by TV Asahi that the show has recorded the highest sales ever for its programming block. This counts sales from distribution partners in other regions.
Aside from sales numbers, many anime fans have also been calling the show a highlight of the season, especially those who love romance shows.
The Dangers in My Heart Is Quickly Becoming a Fan Favorite of Spring 23
Ahead of the Spring 23 season, it was shows like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Oshi no Ko that got the most attention. Other hyped anime of the season are Hell’s Paradise and Gundam: Witch from Mercury Season 2.
For comparison, The Dangers in My Heart wasn’t talked about all that much heading into the season. Though as the series progressed, it got more and more attention.
Finally, in the last two episodes, many fans have begun calling it one of the best shows of the season.
Much praise has been given to the show because of the natural progression of the relationship between Ichikawa Kyoutarou and Anna Yamada.
What also got a lot of praise is the screenplay by Jukki Hanada of Steins;Gate 0 and Sound! Euphonium fame, as well as the music by Kensuke Ushio, the same composer for shows such as Chainsaw Man and Devilman Crybaby.

TV Asahi Reveals The Dangers in My Heart Has the Highest Global Sales in Its Block
Aside from being praised by viewers, it was also confirmed by TV Asahi that The Dangers in My Heart has recorded the highest global sales for its NUMAnimation programming block.
According to TV Asahi’s 2023 fiscal report, the anime topped the sales for the block thanks to advanced sales from Sentai Filmworks in North America and ANIPLUS in Asia.
While the NUMAnimation programming block only started in 2020, the sales figure of the show is still impressive. After all, the block has also broadcasted shows such as World Trigger and Blue Lock.
With the show’s success, it’ll be interesting to see if it will get a Season 2 announcement once the first season ends its run later this month.
The Dangers in My Heart will continue with Episode 11, which will be streamed on HIDIVE in the US.
