For months we've been getting teasers for The CW's crossover event Elseworlds, and now we get a full trailer that gives us a good idea of the plot and who the main antagonist is.
Based on the trailer, we'll know that reality has been altered by a certain Dr. John Deegan. Though John Deegan is not a character from the comics, it's likely that he's based on John Dee a.k.a. Doctor Destiny. Don't let the cutesy name fool you either. Destiny is known to be one sinister villain in the comics; in Sandman, he was able to drive an entire diner of civilians to start brutally murdering and raping each other thanks to his ability to get into people's heads. In the animated Justice League, he trapped everyone inside their own personal nightmares.
For the show, it looks like they will be keeping to Destiny's desire to alter reality, but he'll be getting help from the Monitor. It also looks like Destiny will be altering reality in House of M levels of upside down.
The promos have been showing us that Barry Allen and Ollie Queen will be switching roles with the crossover, but some other promos have confirmed that Supergirl will find herself imprisoned for being an alien, and Batwoman will be the protector of Gotham City. We also know there's a black suit Superman in this universe, and based on what we've seen from set photos, he could very well be a bad guy.
The Elseworlds crossover event lasts for three nights and starts Dec. 9–Dec. 11.
