It looks like the vampires of Santa Carla are returning next year. The CW has just ordered the highly anticipated Lost Boys reboot to pilot.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The CW has ordered the Lost Boys pilot after changing their mind about the series possibly being a spin-off of the 1987 film. Instead, the show will serve as a reboot of the Kiefer Sutherland movie. iZombie showrunner Rob Thomas will serve as executive producer and write the script with Heather Mitchell. This should be welcome news for iZombie fans as the series draws to a close.
The premise of Lost Boys reads as follows:
"After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla's eternally beautiful and youthful undead."
Lost Boys isn't the only pilot being ordered by The CW. The network also called for pilots for the Jane the Virgin spin-off Jane the Novel, a Nancy Drew series, a Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene, and Ruby Rose's Batwoman show.
The Batwoman series is already looking good. After Rose's debut in the Arrowverse crossover event Elseworlds, the network nabbed Game of Thrones director David Nutter to direct the pilot. Considering Nutter's magical touch on several pilots, there is little doubt that Batwoman will be one of the major new shows on The CW in the next year.
