The Crown Season 5 Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Netflix Series?
The Crown Season 5 will probably cover the royal events that occurred in the 90s. This being said, we can expect to see a brand new cast for the fifth season of The Crown.
Netflix released several season posters on October 18, a couple of weeks before the season premieres.
Imelda Staunton will play Queen Elizabeth II
Olivia Colman passes on the torch of playing the Queen to Imelda Staunton, who will be playing the role of Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown Season 5.
In her interview with People, Staunton talked about her challenges as an actress portraying the monarch.
I think my sort of extra challenge, as if I needed it, is that I'm now doing the Queen that we're a little more familiar with. With Claire Foy, it was almost history and now I'm playing one that people could say 'She doesn't do that,' 'She's not like that,' and that's my personal bête noire.
Jonathan Pryce will play Prince Philip
Game of Thrones alum Jonathan Pryce will be playing the royal spouse, Prince Philip. The Welsh actor has played parts in many iconic shows and movies aside from Game of Thrones, with the most recent being his portrayal of Pope Francis in the 2019 movie, The Two Popes.
Elizabeth Debicki will play Princess Diana, and Dominic West will play Prince Charles
Elizabeth Debicki will be playing the older Princess Diana in The Crown Season 5. After Emma Corrin's stellar portrayal of the People's Princess in the earlier season, Debicki is certainly making fans and viewers of the show do a double take with her remarkable performance as Diana, Princess of Wales.
Acting opposite Debicki is Dominic West, who will play Prince Charles. West was surprised when he was cast as Prince Charles because he thought that they looked nothing alike. However, when speaking with the Daily Mail, he explained why the producers went with him.
It's quite disconcerting as I didn't look anything like him when I looked in the mirror. I kept telling the producers that they had cast the wrong person. But they explained that this was not a show of imitations. But that was difficult as this is a real person who is hugely famous and recognizable.
West may be apprehensive, but we agree with the producer's choice, especially after the show released the first look featuring Debicki and West as the royal couple, Charles and Diana.
Fresh New Faces to Play Fresh New Characters
We will be meeting new actors making their professional debuts in The Crown season 5.
19-year-old Meg Bellamy will be playing Kate Middleton, while 21-year-old Ed McVey will play Prince William. The younger Prince William will be played by 16-year-old actor Rufus Kampa.
The Other Members of the Royal Family
We will also be seeing new faces playing the rest of the Royal Family in season 5.
The cutest casting for the season may be Senan West, Dominic West's son, who will be playing a young Prince William. Lesley Manville will play Princess Margaret along with Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, James Murray as Prince Andrew, and Sam Wolf as Prince Edward.
We will also see Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker-Bowles, and Humayun Saeed as Dr. Hasnat Khan, the two people Charles and Diana become involved with after their divorce.
The Crown Season 5 will also see two prime ministers throughout the season. Prime Minister John Major will be played by John Lee Miller, while his successor, Prime Minister Tony Blair, will be played by Bertie Carvel.
This Season will Blow Minds
In an interview with Metro, The Crown podcast host Edith Bowman talks about how the cast of the fifth season will 'blow your mind.'
It’s always that thing because it’s a new set of cast. We’ve gotten used to Olivia and Josh and Tobias and Emma and Helen ., and we’ve got a whole new set of cast. It’s almost like it’s always been them. You’ll find you’ve not taken a breath for like three minutes when you see them on screen for the first time – and that’s all of them

The Crown Season 5 Plot: What Will be the Plot of the Fifth Season?
We still do know what the official plot of The Crown Season 5 will be, but we can make assumptions based on what we know from the previous season and the announcements,
The Crown Season 5 may cover the 90s
The Crown Season 4 ended in 1990, with Margaret Thatcher's ousting being the major event of that year. The fifth season may then pick up from here, covering the events that occurred all throughout the 90s. Britain saw a quick change in prime ministers throughout the decade. It was also in the '90s when the destructing fire hit Windsor Castle, which damaged 115 rooms.
Royal Romances and the Loss of a Princess
The 90s also saw many Royal Romances bloom and wane, which may be included in The Crown Season 5. The Royal Family had to endure three major divorces in the 90s; Princess Anne and Mark Philips called it quits in 1992, and in 1996, Prince Andrew split up with Sarah Ferguson. The most famous separation in the Royal Family also happened in 1997, when Princess Diana and Prince Charles finally ended their marriage. A few months later, Princess Diana died in a tragic accident.
Clarence House Concerned About the Diana Story Plot
The Crown season 5 may portray Prince Charles' affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles. We may even see Diana's controversial interview with Panorama where she talked about her struggles and her husband's affair. Yahoo reported that the possibility of these intrigues being brought up is causing a stir in Clarence House (the Royal Family's official residence). Apparently, the primary concern is the effects the show could have on Prince Charles' popularity, which will most likely take a dip once these issues are revived.
These are the potential storylines that may be included in the fifth season.

The Crown Season 5 was originally the last season of the series as announced by January 2022. However, a July 2020 update stated that the series is renewed for another season. When he spoke with Deadline, Morgan confirmed that he decided to give the series more time to cover more details within the time period.
As we started discussing the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story, we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons. To be clear, Series 6 will not bring us any closer to the present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail.
Season 6 may end in the early 2000s
