John David Washington as Joshua
Let's start with the lead, Joshua, played by John David Washington. In the film, Joshua is a soldier fighting against the robots. He gets assigned to save humanity by destroying the new weapon of their enemy.
But when he discovers what this weapon is, he becomes conflicted. He starts to question what the truth is behind the ongoing war between AI and humans.
Washington is the son of Denzel Washington, an Oscar-winning actor. Prior to joining the industry, he was a football player in the NFL.
Washington started acting in the HBO series, Ballers. It wasn't until Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman that he found his big break.
He would then go on to star in Malcolm & Marie, Amsterdam, and Tenet. He is also set to star in The Piano Lesson with Samuel L. Jackson.
Gemma Chan as Maya
Gemma Chan stars in The Creator as Maya, Joshua's wife, who goes missing during the war. In the trailer, we see that Maya is one of the few humans who show empathy towards the robots since she was rescued by one as a child.
Chan is a British actress who landed guest roles on Sherlock and Doctor Who in the early days of her career. But after starring in Crazy Rich Asians, the actress got her big break.
Since then, she has gone on to star in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Captain Marvel. She also stars in Eternals as Sersi, where she acts with other big stars like Angelina Jolie.
Ken Watanabe as Harun
The Japanese actor, Ken Watanabe, stars in The Creator as Harun, one of the robots with a human face. His character appears to be a leader fighting against humans.
Right now, we don't know for sure that Harun is an antagonist in the film. But we see him tear up in the trailer, which is unlikely for a robot.
