In a new poster for The Boys Season 3, Karl Urban's Billy Butcher looks more like his nemesis Homelander, sporting what looks to be heat vision. This summer, Prime Video's most popular original series will make a significant comeback.
The Boys Season 3 Hypes Fans with New Butcher Poster
The Boys has begun to seriously promote the forthcoming season, unveiling a poster that teases a significant plot surprise. Butcher is depicted in the image with blazing eyes, giving the impression that he, like Homelander, possesses thermal vision abilities.
It was accompanied by a tagline that reads: "Soon, it’ll be time to level the playing field." Check out the image below:
This poster for The Boys Season 3 hints at a key twist from the comics. Butcher and The Boys use Compound V to grant themselves superpowers in order to, well, level the playing field between themselves and the supes they want to take down. It's not clear whether The Boys TV show will adapt that storyline yet, but this is the first major hint that it might.

The Boys Season 3 is already delving into other aspects of the comics, most notably the hedonistic event Herogasm. Perhaps there will be more crossover between the two versions of the story in the future. This could also be a huge misdirection.
What to Expect in The Boys Season 3
The Boys Season 3 is set to air in June and will pick up where Season 2 left off, with the titular group having split up. Hughie (Jack Quaid) has joined Congresswoman Victoria Neuman's (Claudia Doumit) staff, oblivious to the fact that she is the mysterious supe who has been blowing people's heads off.
Meanwhile, Butcher is bereft after the murder of his love, Becca (Shantel VanSanten), and vicious Seven commander Homelander (Antony Starr) has seen his power eroded by the ladies in his life. The stage has been set for a thrilling third season.

Will Butcher and The Boys Eventually Become Supes?
Giving Butcher and the rest of his teammates superpowers would completely upend The Boys. These individuals have been the underdogs throughout the first two seasons of the show, taking on the formidable supes with their own wits and cunning. Making them equivalent with the superheroes would change the series' power dynamic.
Of course, The Boys Season 3 poster isn't proof that this comics surprise is on the way. At the same time, supporters might be wise to prepare for this transition nevertheless. With a show as unexpected as The Boys, anything is possible.
