The Boys Season 2 Star Karl Urban Teases Billy Butcher's Growth in Amazon Series

If there's one thing that we learned about Billy Butcher in the first season of The Boys, it's that the man simply will not stop until he's taken revenge for the disappearance of his wife. But is it possible that Butcher has had a change of heart since he realized that Becca is still alive? Karl Urban has just teased on his character's growth in The Boys Season 2.

Urban recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly where he stated that the upcoming season "is really about humanizing the character and exploring different dynamics." With that in mind, he confirmed that we'll get to meet a different Butcher this year.

"There's the monster, the violent psychopath, the killer, but there's also the more compassionate side, the more humanistic side of Billy... There are really some wonderful, unlikely relationships that are formed," Urban said. He then explained that Butcher may have changed his mind about the superheroes, or "Supes."

"Billy thinks the only good Supe is a dead Supe, and this season is really a season about growth. He's coming to understand that things aren't that black and white, there's a certain shade of grey. He's coming to understand that there is a benefit that comes with tolerance and being able to see that if he can use an asset, even if it's a Supe, to achieve his goal, then he's got to do it," Urban concluded.

We already know that Butcher is against working with Supes, which is something that was cemented by Mesmer's betrayal in the first season. Perhaps he'll change his mind about Starlight? We'll find out for sure in two months.

The Boys Season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime on September 4.
