The Mandalorian's Season 2 premiere sure was successful in generating a lot of buzz across the geek community over the last couple of days but apparently, its streaming numbers weren't as monumental as initially expected. In fact, the Disney+ Star Wars spinoff show wasn't able to surpass the streaming numbers of Amazon Prime's hit superhero series The Boys on its opening weekend.

According to the latest streaming figures shared by Reelgood, the first episode of TheBoys Season 2 was able to garner an impressive 7.2% of the streaming share, while The Mandalorian only drew in 5.7% which may come as a huge shock to a lot of people. Mando and The Child's return apparently also didn't beat Stranger Things Season 3's opening weekend, although it was a close fight as the Netflix series got 5.8% of the streaming share.

Now, considering that Star Wars is a far more lucrative franchise than the newcomer, it's definitely a shocker how Homelander and his crew ended up beating Din Djarin and the internet's new darling Baby Yoda in streaming numbers. When you think about it though, the hit Amazon Prime series has been gaining a lot of attention from hardcore comic book fans following its first season. Taking nothing away from TheMandalorian, however, there's clearly no doubt that it's still a must-see series. In fact, it reinvigorated the entire Star Wars franchise.

That said, The Mandalorian Season 2 is now streaming on Disney+.
