New Research Reveals How Many Netflix Users Share their Passwords

Whether you'd like to admit it or not, Netflix is the undisputed king in the world of streaming services and their subscriber count which only continues to grow bigger by the day pretty much proves that. This begs the questions, however: how many of those said subscribers are "cheating" their way and sharing their accounts with other people and vice versa? A new study reveals the exact percentage of users who share their passwords.

According to research conducted by Kill The Cable Bill, a whopping 52.5% of subscribers in fact share their Netflix accounts with other people, be it their families or friends while 47.5% of viewers choose to keep their accounts all to themselves. The reason behind it, according to the study is the recent spike in Netflix's monthly subscription price which is now at $14 for standard and $18 for premium access.

However, even with the said price hike, so far, only 6% of users have decided to unsubscribe to the streaming service while 26% are actually considering letting go of it. Lastly, 50% of Netflix's subscribers still opt to continue their subscription and it isn't exactly that hard to understand why as the streaming giant continues to deliver quality content on a regular basis.

Now, even with threats like Disney+ and HBO Max on the horizon presenting fans with alternatives, Netflix continues to remain unfazed and it's still a lot of viewers' go-to streaming service, and for good reason. But the results of Kill The Cable Bill's study could prove to be crucial for them in the long run and it'll be interesting how Netflix will handle the password sharing issue. Are they going to go back to their original pricing to lure more viewers in? Let's see what their strategy will be.
