The Boys is one of the popular shows right now on Prime Video. It has been widely praised by critics and audiences for its gritty, subversive, and cynical take on the superhero world. While fans are patiently waiting for the highly-anticipated third season, the series is expanding its world with a recently-announced college-set spin-off series and, now, an animated anthology series.

Prime Video has announced that a The Boys animated anthology spinoff series titled Diabolical is set to premiere on the service next year. The series, which will be consist of eight episodes, will showcase unseen stories within The Boys universe told by some of the creative minds in entertainment today. You can watch the announcement video by series star Karl Urban here:

Per the announcement, the episodes in the series will be written by talents such as Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot Glazer and Ilana Glazer, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland and Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg, and Aisha Tyler.

It is exciting to hear that there will be an animated spinoff series of The Boys as it would be a great way to expand the universe that they've established for two seasons. The animation medium will also give them the opportunity to go all the way in telling stories as they will have no limitations in terms of the gore and violence that they might want to push for.

Diabolical isn't the only The Boys spinoff series that is currently in the works. It was announced a while ago that they are also working on a college-set spinoff series which is described as "an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive superheroes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. It's part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys." There are no details yet regarding when this project will air.
