We've had some pretty controversial live-action Batman castings in the past but I don't think anything can top the backlash Robert Pattinson received when it was officially announced that he'll be taking over for Ben Affleck who "retired" the mantle back in 2019. Now, despite all the negative responses Pattinson initially experienced, the fandom is showing him a lot of love as of late and it looks like people are now warming up to him as the Dark Knight thanks to the first official trailer of Matt Reeves' The Batman which premiered at last year's DC FanDome.
Turns out, Pattinson is still in a state of disbelief over the fact that he gets to play the legendary comic book character and according to him, there are times during filming that he would feel strange because he's officially the new Batman. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canadaat the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures premiere party, the Twilight actor opened up about becoming the new caped crusader as well as the pros and cons of acting while wearing the iconic cape and cowl.
He explains: "It's a strange feeling, I had moments when I was shooting, when you just caught a glimpse of yourself in a reflection and you be like, ‘Am I actually doing this, this is crazy'. It's a combination of the suit does a lot of the work for you, but then when you need to do some work you have to really fight it. But it's a very special feeling to put it on though."

It's great that even though we haven't seen the film, Robert is starting to win over fans who were once skeptical about his casting and that includes yours truly. I'm predicting great things for this darker and grittier version of the caped crusader and I believe Pattinson will blow all of us away in 2022. I'm really excited to see this intriguing new take on the Batman mythos.
