Production for Matt Reeves' The Batman is on full swing at the United Kingdom. It is already known that Robert Pattinson will be taking up the mantle as Bruce Wayne, but of course, he won't go without help from Commissioner Jim Gordon. Westworld star Jeffrey Wright will be playing the role. Although there have been a few speculations as to which comic The Batman will take inspiration from, Wright's prep for the part hints at a completely different route.

Taking to Instagram, Wright shared an image of the cover of Batman: The Golden Age Volume One as his research prep for the film. This is a collection of Batman comics that features an introduction of the character, as well as Gordon's debut. This indicates that he's going all the way back to the very beginning of the history of Wright's character. You can check out the image below.

Although there have been many speculations with the movie's inspiration, it's safe to say that Year One won't be on the list. Reeves said in a previous interview from 2018 that The Batmanwon't be an origin story and that they aren't doing any particular comic, including Year One.

Aside from Wright's Jim Gordon, other actors that'll star alongside Pattinson is Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Penguin, Paul Dano as Riddler, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
