The Suicide Squad Shut Down Production So James Gunn Could Say Goodbye to His Dying Dog

If you've followed James Gunn on social media, you'll know that he has an affinity for animals, whether it be raccoons or cats. Just in, Gunn has posted up a tribute to his dog, Wesley; and he reveals that they actually shut down production for The Suicide Squad for a day so Gunn could be with his dog when it died.

This is his post on IG:

While the story is sweet, some people are kind of criticizing WB for not giving Zack Snyder the same courtesy when his daughter died in the middle of production of Justice League:

Though Snyder was still given named as director, there wasn't even a single mention of Autumn Snyder, not even in the credits. Then again, it seems that the climate surrounding WB has changed drastically, so maybe Gunn being able to say goodbye to his dog was a byproduct of that.

For now, the production seems to be going smoothly for The Suicide Squad. We haven't had any official plot reveal yet, but Gunn is said to have considered this one of his favorite scripts. While I do love Guardians of the Galaxy, I'm hoping Gunn manages to write something different from this movie. I don't just want another group of misfits coming together for the greater good.

Catch The Suicide Squad when it hits theaters Aug. 6, 2021.
