While it's pretty obvious that Robert Pattinson will be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/The Batman in Matt Reeves' upcoming sequel to The Batman (2022), until now, there has been no word on any other returning cast members (with the exception of Colin Farrell in the HBO Max Penguin series). In an interview with GQ interview (via The Hollywood Handle), The Batman director Matt Reeves has confirmed that Andy Serkis will be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne's trusted butler Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman Part II (2025), which is slated for release on October 3, 2025.
“I don’t have a burning desire to play [anyone]," Serkis said. "What I do want is to go back to the stage. That’s one thing I want to do for sure – and I’m terrified of it.”

While Serkis doesn't sound particularly keen to be returning as Alfred Pennyworth, it's possible he will also be returning to The Lord of the Rings franchise. Nothing has been confirmed, but New Line Cinema did recently announce that several new films are currently in the pipeline. Whether or not Serkis would ever reprise his role as Smeagol/Gollum remains to be seen.

Before The Batman II hits theaters in October, 2025, The Penguin television series will premiere on HBO Max, and will consist of eight episodes. The show, which is as yet untitled, will see Colin Farrell reprise his role as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, as seen in the 2022 film.

When a killer targets Gotham's elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World's Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano).
