The Batman Director Shares Promising Update on Sequel Amidst DCU Shakeup

With all the shakeups that are happening in the DC franchise under the purview of James Gunn and Peter Safran, Matt Reeves' The Batman universe seems to be safe as signs are indicating that they are still moving forward with more projects surrounding that section of the franchise.

However, some fans still can't help and wonder whether the sequel that is currently in development will still happen even if Gunn and Safran have not made any decision to shelve that part of the DC franchise. Now, you have nothing to worry about as the key person behind the projects assured us that they are still on their way.

In a recent interview with Collider, Reeves confirmed that he and his writing partner Mattson Tomlin are still writing the sequel for The Batman and they are excited to show to the audience what they have in store for the Robert Pattinson-led follow-up to the hit film from last year.

"I'm not going to answer that question, but we are working on a movie. I'll put it to you that way," he said. "We're deep in it and my partner and I are writing, Mattson [Tomlin] and I are writing, and it's really exciting, and I'm really excited about what we're doing."

Reeves also added that he is "really excited to be doing that with Rob, because I just think he's such a special person and actor."

It is great to hear assurance from Reeves that the sequel is still happening despite all the shakeup that is happening in the DC franchise recently and we can now have a sigh of relief that we will still see Pattinson return as the Caped Crusader at some point in the future.

Considering that The Batman was a huge box office hit when it was released in theaters last year and it was also acclaimed, it's not surprising as well that Warner Bros. and DC are eager to continue that section of the franchise. Now, let's just wait for more updates regarding its development in the near future.
