The Batman Director On The Rumors Regarding Ben Affleck’s Retirement From The DCEU

There have been a lot of contradicting reports about Ben Affleck's desire to stay as the Dark Knight of the DC Extended Universe ever since the premiere Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Some weeks reports come out and say that Affleck intends to leave the burgeoning franchise. Other weeks word comes out and says the actor wants to stay.

Now, a few days after the most recent Batfleck report allegedly confirms that Affleck intends to drop out of the DCEU, The Batman director Matt Reeves reveals that he's still in contact with Affleck for his upcoming film.

Speaking with journalists at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour (via ComicBook.com), Reeves decided to open up about Affleck's involvement in the film, saying that he's still speaking with Affleck about The Batman.

"A lot of things have happened since then but the movie, and why I'm excited about it, is it continues to be the same inspirations and excitement of what we talked about in the beginning."

Unfortunately, Reeves doesn't seem to 100 % confirm that Affleck's staying on the project. And even if he does remain involved, there's also the possibility that Affleck might not appear in the film at all, remaining as a producer behind the scenes. Or he could have a smaller role in The Batman with a younger actor putting on the Dark Knight's Cape in the movie. Who knows really. We'll just have to wait for further confirmation from Warner Brothers.

The Batman doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
