We already know that Barry Keoghan filmed a scene for The Batman but who exactly is the Eternals star playing in the upcoming DC flick? Director Matt Reeves has finally shared new details about the mysterious character and the scene that Keoghan shot for the movie! POSSIBLE THE BATMAN SPOILERS AHEAD, PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
Last year, people were buzzing about Barry Keoghan being a part of the cast of The Batman and although his role was listed as Gotham City Police Officer Stanley Merkel, fans continued to speculate on the character's true identity.
So is Barry Keoghan really playing a policeman or is he secretly a completely different character? Matt Reeves shared some interesting new details about the character, who reportedly appears in a deleted scene.
"There were scenes we cut that I liked," Reeves told TechRadar. "In fact, there's a scene with the unseen prisoner (Keoghan), who appears at the end of the movie in Arkham [Asylum] with the Riddler."
The director explained a bit more about the scene. "There was an earlier scene where Batman went to Arkham to try to profile the Riddler, and Barry is in that scene. It's a very cool scene, and I'm sure we'll we'll release the scene after the movie comes out, because it's a really cool deleted scene," Reeves said.
That's a surprising revelation considering that fans were expecting Barry Keoghan to have more screentime in The Batman. Hopefully, the deleted scene will eventually be released as part of the features in the DVD and Blu-ray. In the meantime, it looks like we'll still see him in the film next week.
The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves and stars Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The movie will finally hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
