Amid the coronavirus outbreak, production for movies and TV shows are halted, and of course, Matt Reeves' The Batman is no exception. The film was already seven weeks into filming when it got a two-week pause and will continue once it's safe for everyone to resume. Now, Reeves shares an update on the movie's progress.

"We're not officially editing right now," Reeves told Deadline. "We've actually shot a quarter of the movie and I have been pouring through dailies, looking at takes, and what's to come."

The Batman is set for release in June 2021 and it remains to be seen whether or not Warner Bros. will give the film a new date. Based on the director's comments, there's still a long way to go in terms of filming. "It's way too early to say," Reeves said, when asked if they would relocate outside of the UK. "I can't imagine we wouldn't finish in London. The situation is fluid."

The script isn't expected to change as well amid the production halt because Reeves says it took two years for him to work on the story with a "very specific mystery noir" that he and his partners have thought about a lot.

Though it is unclear whether or not the movie will face a delay, at the end of the day, the cast and crew's health is of importance so if it were to be pushed back, then so be it. Regardless, fans are still looking forward to Reeves' take on the Dark Knight.

The Batman is currently set to arrive in theaters on June 25, 2021.
