The Batman: Bane Easter Egg You Might Have Missed

The Batman is now showing in theaters worldwide and had the second successful box office opening following MCU's Spider-Man: No Way Home. The Batman features Paul Dano as the first big bad for Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne. The film also includes Colin Farrells's The Penguin, teasing a future villain for the new reboot, and a cameo of Barry Keoghan's Joker was also spotted at the end of the film. While this new Batverse could introduce many Batverse characters from the Comics, one hidden easter egg also teases a potential Bane appearance in Matt Reeves' Batverse.

[SPOILER WARNING] After Pattinson's Bruce Wayne puts The Riddler in jail, he came across criminals who were inspired by the Riddler. Wayne was shot close range by a shotgun in the chest, making him vulnerable to criminals attacking him. Selina Kyle tries to save Batman but was also put in danger when a criminal sneaks up behind and strangled her. Batman has to get back to his senses and takes a vial from his Bat pockets and injected a green substance to himself. The shot quickly gave Wayne an adrenaline boost and his stamina to defeat the goons is back, nearly beating one of them to death.

For those who might not know, in DC Comics, the green substance is associated with one of Batman's main antagonists, Bane. Bane uses the substance to give him steroid-like strength and musculature. Seeing that adrenaline boost substance from Pattinson's Bruce Wayne seems to be teasing a potential appearance of Bane in the future sequels or spinoffs.

Bane was last seen in a live-action film last 2012 in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises and was portrayed by Tom Hardy. Bane is a high-skilled tactician much like The Riddler and Joker, has good hand-to-hand combat skills, and physical strength due to the substance that he injects into himself.

Now that director Matt Reeves introduced three villains in the first film, especially with the surprise cameo of Barry Keoghan's Joker, we won't be surprised if he introduces Bane in the future sequels or spinoffs of the new Batverse he is currently crafting.

For now, we can catch The Riddler in The Batman and The Penguin in its standalone spinoff already confirmed for HBO Max.
