The Batman: Armie Hammer Comments on False Rumors That He Was Up for the Role

News came out earlier this week that Armie Hammer (The Man from UNCLE) was in talks to play the next Batman of the DCEU, but the rumors had turned out to be false. Now Hammer himself has gone to comment on the rumor and says that he hasn't been approached by anyone working on the film.

Talking to Yahoo! Movies, Hammer said:

"No one's ever asked… No one who can actually give me the job has asked me if I'm interested. I don't even know if they're done. I think they're still working on a script, I don't think they're close to production… but I can conclusively tell you that no one has checked my availability."

Back before the DCEU was even a thing, Mad Max director George Miller had been working on Justice League Mortal and Hammer was already cast as Batman for the film. Of course, the movie wasn't able to push through, and Hammer wasn't able to give us his version of the Dark Knight.

It's said that Matt Reeves is looking for someone very specific to take on the role, and WB wants someone familiar to replace Ben Affleck. Rumors have been going around that Robert Pattinson is being considered to take over, but as it stands, Hammer is a fan favorite.

We don't know who is going to be cast as the new Batman eventually, but everyone is waiting intently for the announcement to happen sometime within the year. Hopefully, we don't have to wait for too long because the film still has to cast the villains.

Catch The Batman in theaters June 25, 2021.
