The Amazing Spider-Man Newspaper Comic Strip Ends After 42 Years, What's Next?


The Amazing Spider-Man newspaper strip has been a favorite to many, due to its fun, simple storylines and witty writing. There are times when they even poke fun at the current Marvel continuity, which is always something lapsed fans can appreciate. However, all good things come to an end and after 42 years, the strip is coming to an end.

While it bore Stan Lee's name for the longest time, writer Roy Thomas had actually been writing the series for a while. Artist Alex Sakiuv confirmed that March 23 would be the last daily strip and March 17 was the last Sunday strip, with the storyline officially wrapping up. Here is hoping Marvel or IDW give us a big collection of these strips since it would be a real shame if no one else was able to read these.

Interestingly enough, King Features (via Reed Brennan from The Daily Cartoonist) have stated that The Amazing Spider-Man might be over but we could be getting some sort of Marvel-related news strip after we get a couple of reprints starting March 25. Here is the full statement:

We'll be announcing more about these new adventures in the very near future, so keep your Spidey senses tuned in!"
