Who Dies in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 7?

The recently aired seventh episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 ended with the shocking death of Daniel Blake, played by Michael Gandolfini.
In a stunning turn of events during the penultimate episode of the second season, Kingpin’s two primary lieutenants clash with fatal consequences.
The tension centers on journalist BB Urich, whom the enforcer Buck Cashman wants eliminated for exposing Wilson Fisk’s machinations. However, Daniel Blake finds himself unable to carry out the hit due to his growing bond with her.
Choosing morality over loyalty, Blake defies Cashman to shield Urich, a decision that ultimately seals his fate. In their final confrontation, a physical struggle ends with Cashman shoving Blake to the ground and cold-bloodedly executing him, marking a tragic end for Blake.
However, in an interview with Variety, showrunner Dario Scardapane admitted that the character was originally going to survive the episode, but he changed his mind during post-production.
During filming, instead of executing him, Cashman holds Blake at gunpoint but ultimately chooses to lower his weapon. He grants the young politician a chance to escape, telling him to flee, but he has to explain what happened to Kingpin later on.
Scardapane explained that in his original plan for Blake, he would have remained within the Fisk administration. When attempting to resign, the new interim mayor would have blocked his departure, keeping him close specifically because of a deep-seated lack of trust.
He intended for Blake to live as a testament to the "chance after chance" the character was given, noting that his ultimate sacrifice for BB was meant to "stain Buck’s soul." However, during post-production, Scardapane had a change of heart. He felt the survival angle "felt so wrong" in the editing room, concluding that the narrative weight of the story simply hadn't been earned without Blake's death.
Ultimately, the post-production team revised the climax of Cashman and Blake's confrontation by inserting a fatal gunshot into the final cut. In other words, Blake is officially gone for good.
