The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland revealed that the upcoming Star Wars series will have shorter episode runtimes.
The highly-anticipated first trailer for the High Republic-set series was finally unveiled yesterday. It immediately got a lot of fans excited as they found the footage to be promising.
One of the questions that fans have been wondering is the episode runtimes since we've seen in other Star Wars shows that the length varies between 30 to 60 minutes.

Leslye Headland Reveals The Acolyte Episode Runtimes Will Be Around 30-35 Minutes
Speaking with Collider, Headland discussed the episode runtimes of the first season of The Acolyte.
She revealed that the episodes will be around 30 to 35 minutes while the finale will be a little longer with 40 minutes of runtime.
"About 30 minutes, yeah. I would say some of them are a little bit longer, like the finale, I think it's 40 minutes. But there are also some that I think are barely 30 minutes. On average, I would say somewhere between like 30-35 [minutes]," Headland said.
When asked whether the first season is considered to be a "four-hour movie" due to the shorter runtime, Headland dismissed the idea.
"You know, I don't. I would consider Russian Doll that. I think that it was this continuous [thing], like a really good album. It was meant to be sat and watched and listened to and all that kind of stuff," she explained.
"But I actually think that it is a more weekly experience, and I think it's good that it's a weekly experience because I think when you're dealing with really heavy issues, especially in Star Wars, I think having a break for a week is actually a good idea."
This could come as a disappointment for some fans since some are hoping that it will have a 50-minute runtime which is the standard for a one-hour drama series.
However, as it turns out, its runtime will be similar to an average episode of The Mandalorian and fans can expect a faster pace on its storytelling. We won't be able to find out until the premiere whether the shorter length works or not.
