The new Star Wars series The Acolyte has set a viewership record for Disney+ on its two-episode premiere earlier this week.
Before its debut, fans were looking forward to the series since it is the first Star Wars live-action project that is set in the High Republic era and the early reactions from critics were mostly positive.
Based on the responses from its premiere (sans the suspected review-bombing in the ratings score), fans were mostly enthusiastic about the first two episodes and saw it as a promising start for the series.
The Acolyte Sets the Record as the Biggest Disney+ Launch of 2024
According to a recent report, the premiere episodes of The Acolyte nabbed 4.8 million views in its first day of availability, making it the biggest launch of Disney+ in 2024.
In comparison, Ahsoka reached 14 million views in the first five days of its premiere, which means that it had an average of 2.8 million views per day.

This is a very impressive record for the series since it showed that a lot of Disney+ subscribers tuned in to watch the premiere the moment it became available on the service.
There are many possible reasons why the premiere had a lot of viewership whether it's the fandom's massive support for the series or the curiosity about the brand-new lore and mythology that they are exploring.
It also helps that the series is set in the High Republic era and doesn't have any connection to the Skywalker Saga which paves the way for them to invite new viewers that may not be knowledgeable about Star Wars.
It is interesting to see whether the series' impressive viewership will remain consistent for the rest of the first season or whether it will have an uptick as more people watch it.
