Star Wars The Acolyte gave fans of the franchise a more detailed view of how Jedi and Sith lived during the High Republic era.

Considered a golden era for the Jedi Order, the High Republic also shows how different Jedi were during this period and much more bustling Jedi Temples, notably the Jedi Grand Temple in Coruscant.

This temple is pivotal to the Sith influence during the era, and many TV show fans are theorising why.

In a strategic move, the Sith constructed a shrine atop a mountain, which would later become the site of the Jedi Grand Temple.

This location was chosen for its unique attribute- a Force vergence, a natural concentration of the Force around an object, person, or place. The Sith sought to corrupt this vergence, drawing it towards the dark side.

One example of a Force vergence is Anakin Skywalker. His midi-chlorian count surpassed Master Yoda and every other known Jedi at the time.

The Force vergence in the Sith shrine that eventually became the Jedi Grand Temple played a huge role during Chancellor Palpatine’s usurpation of the Senate by allowing him to conceal his dark side from the Jedi Order.

Eventually, a war began, and the Jedi took control of the Sith shrine on the mountain in Coruscant. The Four Jedi Masters then built the Jedi Grand Temple on top of the old Sith Shrine, symbolising that the Jedi now buried the legacy that the Sith had left over to the capital.

During the events of The Acolyte, the Jedi Order is at its peak, while the Force vergence remains guarded by the Order. One can theorise that the Sith behind the killings of the four masters stationed in Brendok is also plotting something related to the Sith shrine and the Force vergence.

Acolytes are assistants and followers of a cult or religious leader. With Mae being an acolyte of an unknown Sith, one can argue that this specific Sith could be connected to one of the many temples, possibly the Grand Temple, that were used throughout the galaxy during the High Republic period and has conducted a few religious traditions in the name of the dark side using the Sith shrine beneath.

The Acolytes seen previously in canon may differ slightly from Mae in the TV show, but we will get to see more details of this relationship between an acolyte and her master as the show progresses.
