The recently-aired episode 4 of The Acolyte ended on a massive cliffhanger that sets up a major showdown in the next episode.
Since the premiere, the series has been planting seeds for the first season's mystery surrounding the Sith master that Mae is serving and how it is all connected to the events that happened in Brendok years ago.
Fans have been speculating on the identity of the Sith master and what really happened on Brendok (aside from what they've shown in the third episode) which is the main drive for Mae's revenge mission.

The Acolyte Episode 4 Concludes on a Cliffhanger
The fourth episode picked up on where the second episode left off when it was revealed that Kelnecca is now living reclusively in the woods of Khofar.
Sol, Osha, Yord, Jecki, Bazil, and the other Jedi Knights flew to the planet to try to prevent Mae's killing of the Wookie Jedi Master.
Throughout their travel to Kelnecca's hut, Osha admitted that she abruptly ended her Jedi training due to her inability to cope with her death and guilt from the traumatic events that happened in Brendok.
We also saw Sol using his lightsaber (the first time we've seen it in the series) when they confronted a bug that tried to attack them.
At the same time, Mae and Qimir were also on their way to Khofar to do the mission. However, their partnership ended after an argument between them when Mae questioned the nature of her assignment.
Mae decided to trap Qimir by hanging him with a rope and walking to Kelnecca's hut alone as she planned to surrender and tell everything she knew to the Jedis.
However, Mae found Kelnecca already dead in his hut with lightsaber cuts in his chest. At the same time, Sol and the others also arrived and surrounded the area asking the suspect to surrender.
The mysterious Sith master showed up and flew down behind Osha. The Jedis prepared their lightsabers for the showdown. However, the Sith unleashed a powerful Force-push and the entire Jedi team flew back. The episode smashed cut to black.
This is an intriguing cliffhanger that sets up a major showdown for the next episode, and it's interesting to see how it all plays out and whether they will reveal the identity behind the Sith master.
