The recently-aired episode 4 of The Acolyte featured the surprise cameo appearance from a character in the prequel trilogy.

Considering that the series is set around 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace, most of the easter eggs that we've seen so far have been related to the High Republic or references that may or may not have an impact on future events that we've already seen.

However, the series has not explored any cameo appearances from familiar characters in the Star Wars canon and now we finally have our first one in the new episode.

Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for The Acolyte episode 4, so proceed with caution.

The Acolyte Episode 4 Features a Cameo from Young Ki-Adi-Mundi

A younger Ki-Adi-Mundi, a Jedi Master who first showed up in the prequel trilogy, made a cameo appearance during an earlier scene in episode 4 of The Acolyte.

He was one of the Jedi Masters in Coruscant that Sol reported to regarding the status of his mission to find Mae.

While the character's name was not mentioned, his physical appearance made it obvious to long-time fans that he is Ki-Adi-Mundi and the credits confirmed that he is the younger version.

However, Ki-Adi-Mundi's appearance also opens up a lot of questions since he mentioned during the prequel trilogy that the Siths have been extinct for a millennium.

Considering that the series deals with the Sith, it makes Mundi's line in the prequel trilogy more confusing unless they come up with an explanation on why he claimed that they are extinct even if he had colleagues who faced them a hundred years earlier.

Some fans have also pointed out that it was established in the past that Mundi was born in 93 BBY so his appearance in the series likely changes the canon of his origins and it now looks like he has been alive longer than we may thought.

It is interesting to see how Mundi's involvement in the story may play out and whether we will see more cameos in the upcoming episodes (although there is a certain someone that we can count out).

New episodes of The Acolyte premiere every Tuesday night on Disney+.
