While Lee Je Hoon’s drama Taxi Driver 2 is getting a lot of attention due to its entertaining plot and amazing cast members, the recent episode sparks speculation about its connection with the Burning Sun scandal.

Korea’s entertainment industry and elites were shaken by a massive controversy after a popular nightclub, known to cater to wealthy and famous people got caught up in various illegal activities.

From sex, drugs, and more, the Burning Sun scandal, revealed systemic abuse of women, harassment as well as a pervasive use of spycams.

Apart from it, former BigBang member Seungri, who was the co-founder of the elite nightclub was castigated not only by the public but authorities.

In addition, a number of chart-topping K-pop stars were also arrested for drug possession and sexual assault.



Was Taxi Driver 2 Episodes 11 and 12 Based on Burning Sun Scandal?

The 16-part episode K-drama follows the story of a secret organization, led by Kim Do Gi, played by Lee Je Hoon.

Together with the Rainbow Taxi team, they protect the victims from perpetrators. While the show is based on the popular webtoon The Deluxe Taxi, the SBS series focuses on social problems – from harassment, bullying, fraud, drugs, and more.

However, Taxi Driver 2 episodes 11 and 12 are getting the attention of viewers since it resembles to the controversial Burning Sun issue.

As seen in the K-drama, the made-up elite nightclub was named “Black Sun.”

In addition, episode 11 also featured a K-Pop star named Victor, played by Go Geon Han.

However, viewers noticed that it took a swipe at Seungri since the English translation of his name means “victory” as mentioned by AllKpop.

In addition, the broadcast of the episode is almost a month after Seungri was released from prison.

Back on February 9, 2023, he got out after serving 1 year and 6 months due to habitual illegal gambling, solicitation of prostitution services, embezzlement, illegal filming of sexual footage, and more.

Per reports, he was released for his good behavior inside the prison.

As of this writing, officials of Taxi Driver 2 are yet to respond regarding the claims of the story’s similarity with the Burning Sun scandal.
