‘Tangled: Before Ever After’ Spinoff Adds Ashley Judd, Richard Kind & More To Cast

Almost six years following the debut of the 2010 Disney hit, Tangled, the short film Tangled Ever After was released. Now, the company is well on its way into creating a new spinoff series from these two films.

The new series called Tangled: Before Ever After will be aired on Disney Channel TV. Plans for the new show were announced in June.

Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi will reprise their roles as the voices of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. They will be joined by Tangled co-stars Jeffrey Tambor, Paul F. Tompkins as Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs members Big Nose and Shorty. M.C. Gainey will also be returning as Captain of the Guards.

According to Deadline, Disney Channel most recently added a slew of known names in the industry to the voice cast. Ashley Judd will join the show as Rapunzel's mother Queen Arianna, Broadway actress Eden Espinosa (Wicked) as Rapunzel's handmaiden and confidant, Cassandra, comedian Jeff Ross (The Wedding Ringer) as Hook Foot, and Richard Kind (Inside Out) as Uncle Monty.

Other additions include Sean Hayes as Pete the Guard, Peter MacNicol as Nigel the Advisor, Clancy Brown as Rapunzel's father King Frederic, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as blacksmith Xavier, Diedrich Bader as Stan the Guard, Charles Halford as Pub Thug Vladimir, Steve Blum as Pub Thug Attila Buckethead, James Monroe Iglehart as Eugene's friend Lance Strongbow, Jeremy Jordan as teen alchemist Varian, and Jonathan Banks as Varian's father, Quirin.

Apart from the humans, reprising their Tangled roles are Rapunzel's sidekick chameleon, Pascal, and the horse Maximus.

The show is set to feature new songs from Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken as well as lyricist Glenn Slater.

Set between the events of 2010's Tangled and 2012's Tangled Ever After, Disney Television Animation's Tangled: Before Ever After will follow Rapunzel as she gets accustomed to her new life with her parents, her kingdom Corona, and its people. The series is developed by Chris Sonnenburg and Shane Prigmore, with Sonnenburg executive producing.

It looks like Rapunzel has gotten quite a lot of adventures after learning of her parents. While there's not much details about the upcoming series, looking at the promo art, it seems like the movie's fans will enjoy watching the show.

Tangled Ever After is slated to premiere on 2017.
