Taika Waititi Teases Similarities Between Thor: Love and Thunder and Thor: Ragnarok

After Taika Waititi’s successful box-office run of Thor's threequel, Thor: Ragnarok, the director is now back for another MCU project that will continue Thor’s legacy in Thor: Love and Thunder. Thor: Ragnarok maintained its typical hilarious superhero film element and was labeled as ‘one of the best' Marvel films by the fans. Now that Waititi is directing Thor’s 4th film, he can go wild as he wants with The God of Thunder. Featuring new characters and the debut of the symbiote villain, Gorr The Godbutcher (Christian Bale), the sequel will be really insane.

Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok features the God of Thunder, Thor, but not as a powerful hero we all knew. In the Avengers Infinity Saga, Thor has Godlike abilities and is titled, ‘The Strongest Avenger’ in comparison to the rest of the avengers. In Ragnarok, we witnessed how Thor can still develop his powers and doesn’t need to depend on his hammer to defeat his estranged villain sister, Hela (Kate Blanchett). The film was an action-packed comedy, especially with the appearance of Dr. Banner, Doctor Strange, Loki, and also debuted Tessa Thompson as the savage Asgardian, Valkryie.

Now that Thor: Love and Thunder is set to follow Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness theatrical release, the hype for the film is getting bigger. Recent reports tease Valkyrie’s comeback, Jane Foster’s debut as Lady Thor, and first look for Bale’s Gorr The Godbutcher.

In an interview for The Playlist, Director Taika Waititi sat down to discuss Thor: Love and Thunder, comparing the sequel to Thor: Ragnarok.

The director explained, “I don’t think there’s been any difference. I mean really, it’s a similar size and everything’s the same. There’s a few different actors, but the energy and the intention is all still the same.”

The director also teases a potential spinoff for Korg’s character, when the interviewer teased Waititi on how Rhys would be a great brother to Korg, saying “A couple of New Zealand rock guys,” Waititi responded, “That’s a pretty good idea… like a spinoff.”

Thor: Ragnarok is definitely one of the best films of the MCU. Grossing around $850 Million at the global box office, Waititi seems to be the perfect fit to direct Thor’s journey in defending his home, Asgard, and his people.

While we don't have any further information yet about Thor’s fourth film, we are sure that Thor: Love and Thunder would be more hilarious since Thor is joined by his newfound crew, Guardians of The Galaxy. We’ll also see Foster’s Lady Thor, and the highly-anticipated villain, Gorr The Godbutcher.

Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere in theaters on July 8, and Thor: Ragnarok is streaming in Disney+.
