For the past few weeks, there have been rumors that Marvel Studios is moving forward with a fifth Thor movie without Taika Waititi involved in the director's chair again.

Considering the polarizing reception to Love and Thunder, some fans expressed their relief that the Oscar winner won't be returning to helm the God of Thunder's next solo movie and the prospect that there will be another fresh take for the beloved hero.

So far, Marvel Studios has not confirmed that they are already working on a fifth Thor movie nor Waititi is no longer involved in that capacity, but the rumor continued to prevail ever since it surfaced around the web.

In an interview with Business Insider, Waititi was asked about the rumors that he won't be returning to direct the fifth Thor movie.

He confirmed that he won't be involved in the film as he is more focused on the other projects that he is working on at the moment.

"I wouldn't know if that's accurate. I know that I won't be involved," Waititi said. "I'm going to concentrate on these other films that I've signed on for."

Waititi also clarified that he doesn't have any ill feelings toward Marvel Studios if they decide to move forward on a fifth Thor movie without him as the director and he is happy to see other filmmakers take a crack on the character.

"I would never feel like they are cheating on me. We're in an open relationship, and it's like if they want to see other people, I'm happy for that. I'd still get back into bed with them one day," he said.

There you have it, we have the confirmation that Waititi is not returning to direct a fifth Thor movie if Marvel Studios does move forward with the project.

Whether it's because of the last film's polarizing reception or Waititi's very busy schedule, he is out of the picture either way and there will be a brand new take on the character on his next solo movie. It's interesting to see now which new filmmaker they'll tap for the project.

The only way for Waititi to possibly return at this point is to voice Korg, but he we can safely say that he won't get involved creatively behind-the-scenes and he is likely going to just be an actor when he works in a fifth Thor movie.
