Taika Waititi Calls Directing a Star Wars Movie 'Career Suicide'

Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has ended the Skywalker Saga, we're all waiting to see what's next for this glorious franchise. We're all still waiting for official plans from Disney and LucasFilm, though nothing has been announced as of this time. Fans are still hoping for some news about the series, especially since a movie is supposedly planned for 2022 and we won't be seeing David Benioff and D.B. Weiss working on one.

Recent rumors have suggested that Taika Waititi is in talks to work on a Star Wars movie, which he has denied multiple times now. Speaking with Variety, Waititi has stated that he has not had any serious conversations about working on this franchise, though he's not against the notion. However, he did say that working on Star Wars can feel like "career suicide" and he isn't entirely wrong.

"I think people see me hanging out with people, especially with "Star Wars," and think I'm having some big discussions about it. I would f—ing love to... If it was right. I would want to do any kind of movie if it made sense, and if it felt not like career suicide."

Fans would love to see Waititi's take on a Star Wars movie, especially after his work on Thor: Ragnarok and The Mandalorian, among other things. Hopefully, Waititi gets some cool offers on Star Wars soon since his vision for the franchise would be pretty cool.
