Sweet Home is ready to set a new record after season 1 garnered over 2 billion views.

Nearly two years ago, Netflix released the Korean horror series based on Kim Carnby and Hwang Young Chan’s Naver webtoon of the same name.

It tells the story of the people inside the apartment building who get trapped after monsters start to wipe out the city. The survivors do their best to last as long as they can.

After a long wait, Netflix confirms the arrival of two more seasons of the hit series.

Netflix Announces Sweet Home Seasons 2 + 3

On Netflix Korea’s official Twitter account, it confirmed the production of the franchise as the survivors get torn between two choices: either die or survive as a monster.

Sweet Home season 1 featured Song Kang, Lee Si Young, Lee Do Hyun, Park GyuYoung, Lee Jin Wook, and Go Min Si, among others.

The streaming giant has since released a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter), saying, “In these new seasons, Sweet Home will take on a larger scale with an expanded storyline and cast.”

Its season 1 became the first South Korean series to enter Netflix’s Top 10 flicks in the US, peaking at No. 3. It also conquered the top spot in eight countries and appeared in the Top 10 in 42 regions.

According to director Lee Eung Bok, Sweet Home season 2 will present a new setting and technical details.

“The diversity of these returning series—from zombie terror to reality dating—demonstrate the unprecedented variety of content being created in Asia-Pacific. While people have always loved genres like Korean romance and Japanese anime, these shows are breaking genre and language barriers to reach broader global audiences,” Netflix’s VP of APAC content Minyoung Kim said.

Netflix’s Sweet Home To Welcome New Cast Members

Ahead of the new seasons, fans continue to raise questions about the series, including how Lee Si Young, Go Min So, and Ji Soo’s characters will survive in the series.

But aside from the returning members, viewers should watch out for the arrival of Yoo Oh Sung, Jung Jin Young, Kim Moo Yeol, and Oh Jung Se.

Yoo Oh Sung scored the role of Sergeant Tak In Hwan, Special Forces Guard’s leader who ensures the safety of people from the monsters. Oh Jung Se’s Doctor Im focuses on researching vaccines.

Meanwhile, Kim Moo Yeol and Jung Jinyoung play the roles of former UDT (Republic of Korea Navy Special Warfare Flotilla) sergeant Kim Young Hoo and Special Forces Guard’s Private Park Chan Young, respectively.

Sweet Home seasons 2 and 3’s release dates are yet to be confirmed.
