There's no denying that Groot has become one of the most popular Marvel characters out there, so much so that he's getting his own spinoff series on Disney+. In case you weren't aware, Vin Diesel has once again signed on to voice the beloved Guardian of the Galaxy in I Am Groot, an animated series that is said to consist of shorts.

As it stands, we still don't know much about the series apart from the fact that it will be directed by Kirsten Lepore. But according to a new MCU rumor, the upcoming animated series will feature an appearance from an unexpected Avenger. Marvel Insider's Harry Bowls recently reported that Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch will be part of the show but the specifics of her involvement were not disclosed.

Honestly, as great as it is, I feel like the rumor sounds a little hard to buy into simply because someone like Scarlet Witch, arguably the most "serious" Marvel character right now would seem too out of place for a show headlined by one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most endearing characters.

But then again, we're still being kept in the dark with regards to the show's premise so I guess it'll be more than just a filler project and for all we know, it could end up sharing the same level of significance to the current MCU continuity as the What If...? series.

I Am Groot is currently in development. Meanwhile, the character is expected to make a cameo appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder.
