Superman: Red Son Premiere Canceled Because Of COVID-19

A lot of events have been canceled because of concerns over the spreading COVID-19. Not only has Disney opted to cancel its Disney+ launch event in Europe, but it looks like Warner Brothers has also decided to scrap the New York premiere of Superman: Red Son.

Sending out a press release (via Heroic Hollywood), Warner Brothers has informed the media that it has canceled Superman: Red Son's premiere in New York so that it would minimize fan's exposure and risk of catching the novel coronavirus.

"As the impact and spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, Warner Bros. is placing added emphasis on the health and welfare of its employees, talent and fans. To help minimize the risk of exposure, Warner Bros. has opted to take preventative measures and cancel the New York premiere of ‘Superman: Red Son' on March 16, 2020. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, and we look forward to seeing you at future events," the studio wrote in its press release announcing the cancellation of Superman: Red Son's New York premiere.

It's such a shame that Warner Brothers has had to cancel the event. Their premiere of the film was originally set to take place on March 16 before its Blu-ray release. Fans would have enjoyed the event launching the direct-to-video animated comic book movie.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 is limiting public gatherings. COVID-19 is a disease caused by the novel coronavirus, otherwise known as SARS-CoV-2. It has infected more than 90,000 individuals around the globe and killed more than 3,000.

Knowing these statistics, we understand why WB would want to cancel Superman: Red Son's New York premiere.

Superman: Red Son is based on the Elseworlds story from 2003. The film features the voice talents of Jason Isaacs, Amy Acker, Diedrich Bader, Vanessa Marshall, Phil Morris, Paul Williams, Roger Craig, Sasha Roiz, Phil LaMarr, William Salyers, Travis Willingham, Jim Meskimen, and Winter Ave Zoli.
