Superman Reboot: Michael B. Jordan Reportedly Being Eyed as New Man of Steel

There is little doubt that people are curious about the upcoming Superman reboot that is currently in development at Warner Bros. But who could possibly play the new Man of Steel? A new report reveals that Michael B. Jordan is being eyed to lead the highly anticipated project.

Giant Freakin' Robot reports that Warner Bros. is currently pursuing Jordan to star in the Superman reboot that will be helmed by J.J. Abrams and written by Ta-Nehisi Coates. If the Black Panther actor signs up for the project, he will be the first Black Superman in cinematic history and would replace Henry Cavill as DCEU's current Man of Steel.

This isn't exactly the first time that Jordan has been connected to a possible Superman film. Back in 2019, the former Fantastic Four star had admitted that he would be interested in playing the Man of Steel. However, it would be on his own terms.

"I would rather do something original," Jordan told Oprah Winfrey in a 2019 interview. "I'll be Calvin Ellis."

In the comics, Calvin is the Superman of Earth-23 and yes, he is black. The character was actually inspired by former president Barack Obama.

So is it possible that Jordan will be more than just the new actor who plays Superman? Jordan had previously pitched the Black Superman project although it didn't get far. Perhaps the world is finally ready for a Black Superman.

What do you think of Jordan playing DCEU's new Black Superman? Sound off in the comments below.
