Suicide Squad Director is Willing to Wait 'Years' Until His Original Version is Released

Ever since the announcement of Zack Snyder's Justice League, Suicide Squad David Ayer has been campaigning online for HBO Max to release his version of SS as well. While we don't have any confirmation about the Ayer Cut coming out, Ayer comments that he's willing to wait for years till its released.

When it came to a Twitter discussion about when Ayer's Suicide Squad should come out, Ayer comments that he would wait as long as he had to as long as he was able to release ‘the best version of his work'. Here's his post:

We don't know exactly what went down behind the scenes, but we do know that the original version of the Suicide Squad was supposed to be a lot darker. After the early reviews of Batman v Superman though, the leads of WB had forced the film to change from its ‘soulful drama' direction into something more lighthearted and "comedic."

We don't know exactly what's in store for Ayer's cut of the film, but we have bits and pieces based on what's been revealed online. We know that the Joker was supposed to have a more complex role than the one we got in the film and that his relationship with Harley was always meant to be toxic. There are also some scenes depicting Katana being possessed by Enchantress, and an opening scene where we watch the arrest of Slipknot.

While we have no official word on the Ayer Cut, fans are convinced that WB is still waiting on the reception of Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max. Personally, I think Ayer deserves to publish his original vision for the film, and WB should give him a chance.

Zack Snyder's Justice League comes out on HBO Max sometime in 2021.
