Suicide Squad Director David Ayer Says No One Knows How Good Jared Leto's Joker Is

DC diehards are still divided when it comes to Jared Leto's performance as the Clown Prince of Crime in 2016's Suicide Squad. Some fans believe that Warner Bros. made the wrong decision by casting him in the role in the first place while others think his portrayal of the Joker was quite serviceable. Thankfully, Leto got some redemption earlier this year after appearing in Zack Snyder's Justice League but some people are still curious about his "true" performance in the famed Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad the director has been hyping up for years now.

It's quite evident that Ayer is still determined to knock some sense into WB's executives and convince them that the film is worth releasing. Over the last couple of months, Ayer has been treating fans of the DC Extended Universe by dropping some behind-the-scenes images featuring some of the film's cast, most notably Jared's Mistah J.

Taking to Twitter, Ayer once again posted some never-before-seen images of the Morbius actor and he's pretty much standing by his opinion that Leto portrayed the character in outstanding fashion and according to him, it's a shame nobody saw it thanks to the theatrical cut.

Fans have long been campaigning for WB to release the Ayer Cut but as much as I'd love to see it myself, I think it's completely unnecessary, not to mention a little too late at this point. I'm still hopeful that Leto will be given another shot to play the character especially after his Joker portrayal in Justice League received a positive reception from the fandom.

DC's Suicide Squad and Zack Snyder's Justice League are both available for streaming on HBO Max.
