Fortiche Production, the animation studio renowned for Netflix’s Arcane, is working on a new film called Penelope of Sparta, an upcoming sci-fi feature film inspired by Greek mythology.

Fortiche Production Announces Original Sci-Fi Animated Film Penelope of Sparta
Fortiche Production has once again set the stage in Annecy, revealing their next animation project, Penelope of Sparta, a sci-fi animated film.
The film is being developed by Jérôme Combe, co-founder of Fortiche Production and producer of Arcane, and Silvia Martelossi, an animator for The Secret Life of Pets 2 and The Grinch.
The movie is being developed with seasoned screenwriter Amanda Overton, who previously served as executive story editor for Arcane's first season. Raël Lyra will also serve as the upcoming film's art director.
Fortiche Production revealed that they will continue to mix 2D with a painted 3D visual in Penelope of Sparta, as their distinct graphic style has proven appealing to animation fans and received widespread critical acclaim.
As anticipation builds, Penelope of Sparta is set to redefine the boundaries of animated filmmaking.
Penelope of Sparta Release Date Predictions
So far, Penelope of Sparta has no exact release date, which means interested viewers will have to wait for further news and information about the film's actual release.
With this, we can only speculate about the release date of Penelope of Sparta based on previous release patterns from Fortiche Production.
Arcane was first unveiled during the League of Legends 10th anniversary celebration in 2019. It was then released in November 2021, two years after it had been in production.
If this pattern continues, Penelope of Sparta could be released two years from now, probably in 2026. However, given that it is not episodic like Arcane, the release window may be shorter than feared.
Penelope of Sparta may also be released in six to 12 months, depending on external and internal conditions such as production issues.
What We Know about Penelope of Sparta’s Story
At the heart of Penelope of Sparta is the titular main character Penelope, the heroine from Homer’s The Odyssey.
Penelope is a 17-year-old student who attends an elite high school alongside other Greek mythology characters such as Achilles, Circe, Achilles, Odysseus, and Agamemnon in an ancient Greece-inspired setting.
While the students are trying to one-up each other, Penelope will do her best to achieve the mission assigned to her by the King of Sparta: free the Spartans from Athens.
