Will There Be a Street Fighter 2?

Street Fighter 2026 will not be released until October 16, but there are now rumors that a sequel is already in development.
During the film’s press day (via ComicBook), director Kitao Sakurai was asked if he is already working on a second film, reportedly titled Street Fighter: Round Two.
“I can unfortunately not confirm nor deny anything of that nature,” he said. “But it’s something that we would obviously love to do. I mean, we had such an incredible time making this movie and would love to do more.”
However, just like other movies, its follow-up depends on the fans’ reactions, box office success, and critics’ scores.
“And so, you know, I think it’s all kind of based off of how you guys and the fans react, and if they love it or not, you know,” he continued.
To hype up the sequel even more, film star David Dastmalchian, who plays the villain M. Bison, seems to agree with the idea of making a sequel by shouting “Round two” in the style of the iconic Street Fighter game announcer.
If Street Fighter 2 is indeed in the works, it will never run out of stories to tell with its several source materials.
The franchise now has six main games and a dozen spinoffs and crossover games, making the possibility of a second movie not far-fetched.
