Stranger Things Star David Harbour Explains SAG Acceptance Speech and Teases Season 2

Winning the award for best ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild awards during the weekend, Stranger Things cast was represented on stage with a impassioned acceptance speech by one of the series' lead stars, David Harbour. Rallying for artists and coming in defense for the ostracized, Harbour called for empathy and understanding in a culture of narcissism, fear, and self-centeredness, moving the crowd to their feet.

Speaking in an interview with Vanity Fair the day after, Harbour decided to explain the Stranger Things acceptance speech he had made at the SAG as well as tease fans with a bit more information on the science fiction drama series' second season.

"It's funny that everyone's taking the speech to be political," Harbour explained, "because I think everything we do is political. I don't think there's any separation. And obviously, I'm responding to the times I'm in, but the speech itself doesn't really mention politics or policy in any way."

According to the Stranger Things star, the speech he made was his "attempt to make people feel not alone" and feel like " freaks on any side of any aisle in any way." Stranger Things imbibes the same message, making it no surprise how strongly Harbour feels about empathy and acceptance.

The Hollywood actor also teased about the series second season saying:

"I got the first script of season two, and the first five minutes I was on my feet going, ‘Yes! Yes!' Because they open up the world in such a new way," Harbour said. "And these characters that I feel like are so iconic, and that we love so deeply, get to really go on different arcs and different journeys and explore these little things that we touched on in their personalities and psychologies. And we get to really expand on that. . . I really do think it's going to be thrilling. And you can tweet at me that I'm an idiot if it's not."

This may come as no surprise to fans – we always expect better seasons, and from the sound of it, Stranger Things season 2 will definitely not disappoint as the series expands on the different psychologies and personalities of each character.

Stranger Things season 2 premieres on July 2017 on Netflix.
