Stranger Things Star Dacre Montgomery Has Been Cast in Controversial 1970s Horror Movie Remake

Former Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery, who played the older brother of Sadie Sink in the Netflix series, has recently signed on a deal alongside Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira to be a part of the controversial 1978’s Faces of Death remake. As per Collider, the two stars are the first to be announced for the film, which is being penned by Isa Mazzei and Daniel Goldhaber for Lionsgate.

For those unaware, Faces of Death is considered to be controversial due to its questioned authenticity that went past its three sequels. See, Faces of Death is an anthology-style film told in a documentary-style format, in which pathologist Dr. Francis B. Gröss attempts to uncover the transitional moment between life and death.

The disturbing displays of real-life footage of shocking deaths begged the question as to whether or not they were real, only for many (but not all) scenes to be proven fake. However, despite its controversy, the film earned $35 million out off its $450,000 budget.

Both actors have the credentials to take a role in the horror film. With Dacre Montgomery’s background for not only playing as Billy Hargrove in Stranger Things, but even in making an appearance in Better Watch Out (2016), and Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira having recently played a role in Jordan Peele’s sci-fi horror film Nope in 2022.

It is worth mentioning that this isn’t the first time Montgomery and Ferreira are working together, seeing as both actors starred on CAM, a thriller film in which a camgirl obsessed with climbing the top of the social media ladder eventually ends up learning the risk she’s putting herself on in her chosen line of work, leading her to discover stalkers and an online identity thief.

It would be interesting to see how Montgomery and Ferreira’s roles fit in the bill, as little to nothing has been revealed about the horror remake yet. As of writing, there is no official release date, or plot synopsis, but since this is a remake of the original, it can be presumed to showcase the same concept using a different set of actors this time.
