Stranger Things’ Jonathan Byer’s Forced To Leave The US Because Of Cocaine Possession

Stranger Things fans might have been expecting Charlie Heaton to pop up at the science fiction horror series' season 2 launch party in LA this weekend but it seems like the British actor was turned away at the LAX airport because of cocaine possession.

According to The Sun, sniffer dogs and border officials had caught the Stranger Things star with traces of white powder on the former rock band drummer's personal items over the weekend. A source told the publication on Sunday evening that the powder which was later on confirmed to be cocaine came in a "very small amount," and that Heaton had been forced to miss the LA premiere of the supernatural series on Friday.

"He was not arrested. He was held at the airport for a while and then put back on a plane to London that night. If you are a foreign national and it is a large amount of drugs you may be charged," the source explained. "But if it is personal use, the consequences are that you will not be allowed in to the country. US law is very strict on this."

It's such a shame that Heaton was forced to leave the LAX – despite his stalking stint during the first season of Stranger Things a lot of fans find themselves drawn to the artistic and broody Byer's brother. Guess the former drummer just couldn't let go of his rock and roll lifestyle.

Stranger Things season 2 is now available for streaming on Netflix.
