We already know that Stranger Things Season 5 is going to be the final one for the Netflix series. So what does the end look like for Mike Wheeler and Will Byers? Finn Wolfhard shared his thoughts on what the future will be for the best friends and he is understandably hopeful for the teenagers.
In Stranger Things Season 4, it was made clear that Will has romantic feelings for Mike but Finn Wolfhard's character appeared to be completely in the dark. Nevertheless, the Ghostbusters: Afterlife star says that things could finally change in Season 5 and he's hoping that Mike will finally realize the truth.
"As far as the Mike and Will relationship goes, I always found it kind of funny, especially last season of Mike just being so clueless," Wolfhard told Indiewire. "I would imagine Mike is going to be totally accepting of Will [though], and I really want Will to have a really happy ending. I think he will."
He then pointed out that the Duffer brothers have something big planned out for the final season.
"What's going to be so awesome about Season 5 is that the Duffers are sort of trying to thread this needle of trying to get every character to have their perfect ending. So I'm excited to see what ends up happening," Wolfhard said.
We're also hoping for the best for Will and Mike in the fifth season, which is going to be the final season. Wolfhard had previously stated that there is absolutely no need for a Season 6 considering that everything will be wrapped up nicely in the fifth season.
"To me, if Stranger Things went on any longer than five [seasons], I would say it would be ridiculous. I think the Duffer brothers figured out, I would imagine, a perfect ending in [Season] 5," Wolfhard stated.
Stranger Things Season 5 will consist of eight episodes and filming is set to begin in May 2023.
