Amidst all the chaos in Stranger Things, fans may have forgotten that the Byers family had a dog named Chester, who suddenly vanished from the show. David Harbour, who plays Hawkins police chief Jim Hopper on the Netflix show, recently said some harsh things about that dog.

In a recent episode of the interview series Hot Ones, Harbour was asked by host Sean Evans about prior comments he had made about the Stranger Things dog. "Oh my god, I hated that fucking dog," Harbour said. "Take after take, it would wander off or do something, and then I just remember the trainer on the sidelines going 'Come on! We gotta make our money!'

The white, scruffy dog, spent most of the time barking on screen, and Harbour was fed up with his coworker's lack of professionalism, so he went up to whoever was in charge of the Chester's fate and told them how he would like to handle the dog's arc.

"I walked up to [the writers]," Harbour added, "And I was like 'You know, the Byers should probably have that dog put to sleep next season.' We never talk about it the whole rest of the show, but they just wind up not having a dog. We should find it in the Upside-Down in one of these future seasons."

While the dog didn't die in Stranger Things, Chester did not appear in the show after the first season. When Will Byers actor Noah Schnapp was asked about his character's pet at a panel, he replied, "I think he died, didn't he? He did." He also said that there was a marked grave for the Byers' dog in Season 3, but it never actually showed up into an episode.
